Singapore Math

Young children’s mind is very concrete, and math, science and alphabet are abstract symbols and concepts that are very hard for young children, with a concrete mind, to acquire and master. Instead of rote learning, a memorizing technique based on repetition, Singapore Math method uses pictorial, logical strategies, concrete materials, fun activities and games to help children to learn and master abstract concept.

The purpose of Singapore Math is to help children to learn how to use a variety of methods to problem-solve. Through learning how to comprehend, how to think (reasoning), how to apply acquired concept in daily life, children develop logical and critical thinking which enable them to problem-solve. This is beneficial for children not only in the learning of math, but also in all areas of development.

小孩的思維都很具體化，而數學、科學、字母等，都是一些小孩難以理解的抽象概念。新加坡數學透過圖像（形象化）、邏輯推理、具體敎材、活動敎學和遊戲形式把抽象概念具體化，讓孩子能直觀問題，學習和掌握概念，而不是憑記憶重複背誦課題。

新加坡數學的目的是讓孩子學習解決問題的能力。透過提升理解和阅读能力及思维能力，將所學到的應用於日常生活中，孩子能建立邏輯思維和抽象思維, 學懂用不同的方法去解決問題。這不僅有助孩子學習數學，更有利於孩子的全方位發展。
